GreenSCIES partner, Silver EMS, were delighted to receive an ‘Honourable Mention’ in the “Business Competitiveness: Enter the Dragons’ Den” session as part of the ADE Heat and Decentralised Energy Conference.
Design Director Oliver Riley’s pitch to the dragons explored ‘Innovation in 5th Generation District Heating for Community Energy Solutions’. The presentation gave a whistle stop tour of the GreenSCIES (Green Smart Community Integrated Energy Systems) community energy project in Islington, explaining how it will combine low temperature district heating and smart grid technology to create a blueprint for replication in other cities.
In a great session pitching against some excellent and innovative competition, Oliver summarised the big ideas in GreenSCIES that will take us towards decarbonisation: using and developing technology, optimised locally, to network urban heat at low temperatures whilst delivering low cost energy to the community with 80% carbon savings.
Commenting on the experience Oliver said ‘I’m immensely proud of our pioneering GreenSCIES project and enjoyed the rapid fire ‘pecha kutcha’ challenge. This year’s ADE conference was the best yet – I was blown away by the level of innovation and energy in the industry, which gives me real confidence we can achieve a timely net zero transition.’
